Privacy Policy

Effective June 2026 · last reviewed June 2026 · er-toolkit.com

i
The short version. ER Toolkit collects no protected health information. Every tool runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent to us or anyone else. Any analytics are privacy-conscious, cookieless, and aggregate only.

What the tools do with what you type

The Workup, Dotphrases, and Discharge tools run entirely in your browser. The text you enter is used only to assemble the on-screen note and is never transmitted to a server. A few preferences are saved locally on your own device using your browser’s storage — your light/dark theme, any dotphrases you save, and your in-progress workup state — so the tools feel continuous between visits. Clearing your browser data removes all of it. None of it is patient data, and none of it leaves your device.

Analytics

To understand which tools are useful and how to improve them, the site may use privacy-conscious, cookieless analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics). When enabled it records only aggregate information — page views, referring sites, broad device type, and country — with no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and no advertising profiles. It never receives anything you type into a tool. We see counts and trends, never individuals and never patient information.

Some interactions (for example, “a risk tool was used” or “a note was copied”) may be counted as simple, non-identifying events. These carry only short, fixed labels (such as the tool name or a risk category) — never the values you entered, never free text, never patient details.

What we never collect

  • Protected health information (names, MRNs, dates of birth, exact dates, addresses, phone numbers, or case narratives).
  • The clinical text you type into any tool.
  • Accounts, passwords, or logins — there are none.
  • Data sold or shared with advertisers — there are no ad networks on this site.

Email & feedback

If you subscribe to the newsletter, the email address you enter is sent to our newsletter provider (Buttondown) for the sole purpose of delivering the newsletter; you confirm by double opt-in and can unsubscribe at any time. The feedback form is optional and not yet connected to a backend. We use form input only to send what you asked for or to respond to you — please do not include any patient information.

Cookies

This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies. Local browser storage is used only for the preferences described above.

Sponsorship, affiliates & third parties

ER Toolkit currently runs no ads and has no sponsors, and it is free. Should that ever change, any sponsored content, affiliate links, or financial relationships will be clearly disclosed — both here and at the point where they appear. The clinical content will continue to be authored independently and cited to its source literature.

Changes

This policy may change as the site grows; material changes will update the date above.
